Dr Ivan Misner, founder of BNI Founded in January 1985 by lvan R. Misner, President of Business Network International Inc., BNI is a business and professional networking organisation that allows only one representative from each profession to join any of its chapters. The sole purpose of the BNI chapter is to generate more business for its members.

BNI is the most successful business referral organisation in the world with over 3,700 active chapters, and more than 74,000 members. Last year BNI members passed over 3,300,000 referrals that resulted in over £850 million in business being done between BNI members.

All BNI members carry a card file with other members' business cards in it. When they speak to a client, contact or friend and recognise a need that could be fulfilled by another chapter member, they can pass on the business card and give the referral to the appropriate member at the next chapter meeting.
